Remembering 2013

I can't believe today is officially the last day of 2013.
Time has flown by so fast! It's unbelievable!
Over the course of this year I have challenged myself. I've started blogging for the first time. Meeting people that I would have never met if it weren't for this blogging world. I am so grateful for all my new blogging friends!
I accomplished one of the few goals of 2013 which was to run Miracle Miles.
Not only were personal goals were accomplished but milestones of my daughter. Converting her crib to a toddler bedPotty trainingbeing bottle free and finally pacifier free too! (in time for the new year!) Just to name a few.
I can't wait to see what will 2014 will bring but all I hope is for more memories with my family and of course happiness!
I would like to take the time to thank you, my followers! I really appreciate that you have taken the time to read my posts. It means the world to me. I wish you a happy new year! I hope the best comes your way in 2014 :-)

Happy Holidays!

I hope everyone has had a wonderful Christmas! I know I did. Unfortunately we couldn't stay with family for as long as we hoped.
I know that I have been M.I.A. for the past weeks. And I do apologize for that.
I was having an issue with my laptop. That it seems the hard drive is loose so it randomly appears. This is a big problem for me cause that's where everything I have from personal pictures to pictures/videos for my blog.
I have a Chromebook laptop but I mainly use this when I travel but it quiet limiting for me.
Besides that hurdle there have been a couple as well. Nothing too crazy. But hopefully I would be able to share it with you soon!

As far as Christmas went, we enjoyed every minute of it. My daughter was able to hang out with her cousins. It was great to see them bond with one another. Even though my daughter was kind of rough with her cousin, Gabriel.
It was only with him though. I guess cause he was the only boy from all the cousins.
When it came time for opening gifts it was a free for all. My husband's cousin, Aicha, was handling the gifts every second and not waiting for the kids to open the previous gift that was given. In my opinion it felt a little disorganized. I honestly would of done it differently. I really wanted to focus on my daughter's and her cousin's reactions individually. But hey what can one do? What matters is that we were able to spend time with family as chaotic as they come.

To Bottle or Not to Bottle?

I have to say my daughter has been bottle free for the last four days! WoooHooo!
For a while I have been thinking over and over how to take the bottle away from her.
There was one night this week we all went to sleep early. She didn't even asked for the bottle cause she was so tired that day.
The following day I pointed it out to my husband about the previous night being bottle-free.
He insisted to try it again. I was worried that my daughter wasn't as tired as the previous night and would cry for the bottle.
So that night I didn't even mentioned the 'B' word. And she was content with just her pacifier.
Then the third day I tried to have a bottle-free naptime. I figured why not? What is the worst that can happen?
Surprisingly she was actually content with the idea of no bottle even though she asked for it. I told her "no bottle, only pacifier" and she responded "okay, pacifier"
No fight at all. I was shocked! It was so easy!
Then I tried another full day being bottle-free to make sure it wasn't a fluke.
And it wasn't!

Found her like this during her nap
I guess it was time for my daughter to let go of her bottle.
It saddens me a bit cause it's one of the last few items that reminds me that she is no longer a baby but a toddler. It is true that time flies especially if you have a kid.
Next thing to tackle is her pacifier. She doesn't use it that much only for nap time and bedtime. Right now I am going to enjoy this milestone of my daughter.

Christmas Tree Craft

Last week we made a Santa Beard Countdown. And remember I used the back of the Thanks Giving Tree ? Well I used the other half of the poster for my daughter's Christmas Tree.
This a great, simple activity and you can use some items from your house too!
Items we used
egg cartons
paint brushes
liquid glue
Paint ( you can use markers or crayons)
scissors
Pencil
Poster (regular or construction paper is fine too)
What next?
1. Sketch your tree and star with your pencil
2. Use your scissors to cut the tree and star out.
If you have little ones learning how to use scissors, then is would be a great learning opportunity!
3. Let your kid color/paint their little hearts out.
4. While they are coloring/painting you can cut out the egg cartons.
5. Next thing is to color/paint the egg cartons!
You can add glitter if you are daring. Or you can use those glitter paint.
No one likes to clean up glitter so this is a great alternative.

6. Let the paint the dry and then glue it all together!
This how ours turned out like:

You don't have to use the exact items we used.
Get creative!
Use things around the house, like cotton balls, pasta, milk gallon caps, stickers and the list is endless.
It doesn't have to be completely perfect.
My daughter enjoyed making this and that's what counts
