February & March LootCrate

As most of you know February was a hectic month in the Guzman household. We were packing, moving, unpacking and getting settled in our new home.
I didn't really get a chance to make a video for February unboxing. I decided to do February and March's unboxing together. Sorry that the video is a bit lengthy. I tried to cut it down as much as I could.

My husband was really excited for the March box since it's theme was Titanfall. And if your husband/boyfriend is a gamer then you would have an idea about the game.
As I said in my video we have two Loot Crate boxes left from our 6 month subscription. We will see if we would do another 6 months. It's not like we don't enjoy these boxes it more due to the house expenses. My husband and I have to discuss it a bit more for what works for us.

My lovely friend Remy from Busy Mom Monologues purchased her first loot crate box! YAY!
Here is her post of her unboxing. I'm so glad that her family enjoyed it!

If you are interested in joining Loot Crate like my friend Remy, then click my Refer a Friend Link to join.
Have you joined Loot Crate? What was your favorite item so far?
Are there other monthly subscriptions you joined?
(doesn't have to be gamer related)

Home Improvement, BBQ, TV shows

This past week was great. We had my husband's team over for the BBQ, water fights and movie night.
I couldn't find water balloons at the stores so they had to resort to playing water-version of War. From what I understand its whoever has the highest card wins and gets to throw a cup of water in the other opponent's face. They did this for a while in the backyard. Well until it was time to BBQ.
My husband's team always prefers to have my husband cook over going out to a restaurant. That's how good his bbq is. Plus we love to entertain.
The guys brought a bunch of beer that filled up a drawer in the freezer which was later name 'the beer drawer'. My husband and I are not beer drinkers so this was amusing to us.
As we headed towards the night we started watching movies but it later turned into YouTube party.
We have a Chromecast that is hooked on our TV. Anyone that has smartphone or tablet/ipad was able to access it. So we threw on funny YouTube videos there. It's a great way to interact with a group.
The following morning was the aftermath. Majority of the house was in pretty good shape. I always clean as I go to make my life easier. I do that with my everyday cleaning and especially when we entertain.

the before.

the after -so clean. only last for a couple hours till lunch time
I had a large pile of dishes to clean. But it was manageable.
That day we took it easy and enjoyed the day and relaxed.

our delicious leftovers. I opted for a salad instead of carbs
We lay couple of blankets and pillows on our living room floor and watched my husband play Dead Rising 3 DLC. Later on we watched some other movies as well. There was no cooking needed to be done. We enjoyed eating our leftovers.

The following day it was back to business. Husband working from home and I cleaning or organizing as always. I finally cleaned the containers that I bought from Goodwill last week. I gotta say I am loving my organized closet. It needs a bit more work but at least my stuff are not falling over due to the wire shelves.
After my husband was done with work for the day we watched Tangled!
This was the first time Jinx watched the movie. I always play the songs but she never really knew where it was from. Once she saw movie title and heard the song "when will my Life begin" she got really excited.

Of course she tried to sing it. It was adorable as always.
Over the weekend we had my husband's dad stay with us. We went to Home Depot for a couple of hours.
We finally picked out a colors for the living room/my office, the master bedroom &bath and dinning room/ kitchen.
We picked out Behr's French Rose with primer for our dinning room.
At first, I didn't want to go with such a dramatic color. I wanted to play safe and go with some neutral colors. But after many discussions and online search for pictures of red dinning rooms for inspiration I started to fall in love with this color. I have to say my husband was right at picking out the color. I thought it would be too much but it actually isn't. We only purchased one gallon to test it out. That one gallon covered a lot of wall space. It still needs a second coat of paint and it will be perfect. There are 2 walls left to be painted but I think 2-3 more gallons should be enough to cover it.
Can't wait till it is officially done!

our helpers. She enjoyed painting very much.
What colors did you pick for your dinning room? Do you have any tips for us?

Wonderful weather, Frozen and Honey Wine

It's another quiet week. We go for walks if the weather permits.
We love our back yard. Using it more and more.
It's almost a foreign concept for us. We have lived in apartments for such a long time that we have to remind ourselves that we have a backyard.

We've enjoyed eating our snacks outside in the sunny Florida weather it just been lovely.(sorry for those still stuck with snow)  Jinx gets to disperse her energy. It's also great for my husband. Whenever he gets a few moments to get away from the computer he comes out and enjoys the time outside with us.

eyeing some more sweet treats
This past week we dinned in a local china buffet with some friends that live in the same area. Let's just say that Jinx enjoyed eating there very much especially when it came time for dessert. (Lol) It was so much fun eating out for a change. We always cook all our meals. So this was a nice treat.
some of our thrift finds
I've always wanted to go thrift shopping. Never really had any reason to do it before or the time. We finally went! I guess we weren't as lucky as other thrifters but we did find a couple of things. I got Winnie the Pooh step stool for my daughter ($3). Anything Disney related can easily cost $15 or more. I would say this was a great find. I also found some clear plastic bins for a $1 each. They needed some cleaning and a bit of peeling of label stickers. I was looking something like this for our bathroom closet to get organized. I also found a Target magnet notepad for $.39. These usually cost a dollar. The last item was not really needed but it was too damn cute to pass up. It was monster hoodie blanket ($6) for Jinx.

my office :)
We've finally cleared up our dinning room from all the boxes. A good portion was from my scrapbooking supplies and scrapbooks. My husband was nice enough to set up my computer in my office. I was basically like a nomad with my laptop. Anywhere I could sit or have table space I was able to blog, pay bills, and etc.
I honestly don't really like it cause I wanted a desk with drawers. This desk was my husband's so now I'm stuck with these plastic containers to hold my printer for now. Did I mentioned my office is considered a "formal" living room? So it's open room to the kitchen and living room. I'm in the look out for a nice desk with drawers. I might buy a dresser like item to hold my supplies. We are getting things little by little.

This week we had some wine made out of honey! I know you can ferment pretty much anything but didn't think of honey. It tasted slightly sweeter than wine. The bottle that our friend, Manny, picked out was on the drier side. But was still good.

We also treated ourselves with baking some Hershey's Smore cupcakes while watching the movie Frozen over the weekend. My daughter LOVES the movie. She calls this movie "princess" instead of Frozen.
I created a playlist of songs she likes to listen to on my YouTube Channel: Surprise You Are A Mom!

My daughter and I love to sing "Let it go". It's one of my favorite songs of the whole movie. I'm so happy that Disney picked Idina Menzel to be Elsa. Always loved her since she was in Rent.
Have you seen the movie Frozen? Which character is your favorite?
Which is your favorite song from the movie?

Nutella Brownie In A Cup

You probably have seen this idea through out Pinterest. The Nutella brownie in a cup.
Looks great! Enough for one person. No need to take out the mixer, bowls, or spatula/whisk. Everything is simplified so you can enjoy your brownie without thinking of cleaning up those dishes
I've search for many recipes through Pinterest. Some were asking for all these ingredients that I didn't  have. All I had was flour, eggs, butter and Nutella. I am pretty sure those recipes would taste amazing with the extra ingredients. But I am limited.
In my first attempt, it didn't turned out like I would have liked.
I left it for about 2 minutes which was probably my mistake. Cause it turn out like a cake-like brownie. The taste wasn't rich and not as sweet as I hope for. It also had a faint taste of eggs.
A couple of days later I tried again and it turned out perfect!
All the ingredients are most like readily available in your cabinets

What You'll need:

Large mug (microwavable)
one spoon
5 tablespoons of Nutella
1 egg
2 tablespoons of butter
2 tablespoons of flour
4 tablespoons of sugar

Steps
1.  In your large mug mix the egg ,sugar and butter.

2. Then add the flour and make sure there are no large clumps of flour.

3. Last item to add is your Nutella and mix it together.
4. Put this in the microwave for a 1 minute and 30 seconds.
This created a lava brownie but if you want it fully cooked leave it for 2 minutes. Any longer you can ruin it.
5. Once you are done let it cool cause it will be really hot!
6. Last thing to do is eat it!
This would go great with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or by itself.
Either way it would be delicious!

Comment below if you tried similar recipes or even this recipe.
I hope you enjoyed this delicious treat as much as I did.

Puppy Surprise

This past weekend has been great. We had enough cool weather to leave our windows open it was so nice. The first cool night was too cold so we closed a couple of windows. Yay on saving on electricity!
Recently my husband is getting used to the A/C being on 75 degrees . Mind you he always loves the A/C being the temperature of Antarctica.
As far as home related projects we didn't do much then deep clean a couple of rooms. Our home project helper, AKA my father-in-law, didn't come and visited us this weekend. He is basically our security blanket when it comes to home projects. Since he wasn't here then there wasn't any projects done.

getting creative on the driveway
My daughter, Jinx and I have been taking advantage of the nice weather so we take long walks around our community. Where we live now you'll see kids playing outside. This is something that I have not seen in many years. And there is even an ice cream truck too!

I'm guessing these were cranes but there are bigger ones around here
We have a couple of lakes/ponds close by that we see ducks and their ducklings passing by. There are also have a bunch of cranes in the area. According to my husband you can't feed these birds cause they tend to get aggressive towards humans. I had to teach my daughter to not run towards these birds. If it were up to her she would just squeeze them so hard like a stuff animal.
On Sunday night we had a late visitor. It was a white fluffy puppy! He was scratching our door for our attention. I open the door and the dog felt as if this was his/her home and came right in. Our neighbor Maria asked us if it was our dog. We told her no but I had an idea who it was.
She said that she tried to give it some commands but wouldn't listen to her. But when I gave it commands he/she listened to me. My daughter fell in love with him/her. She wanted to hold him/her but I knew it wouldn't be a good idea.
Our neighbor Maria and I went down a couple of houses from mine to where I thought the owners were. And I was right it was their puppy. They were so grateful that we returned the dog. When Troy, the dog owner, opened the room 2 dogs sneaked out of the house as I was explaining how we found his dog. They had like 4 of the same doggies. So no wonder they lost one.

This is a Google Image but this is what the dog looked like.
Isn't it adorable?!
I should add that this kind of dog is one of my favorite. I was kinda hoping I didn't find the owners. I know it sounds horrible but this dog was such a cutie. After I explained what happened to Bryan, my husband, he taunts with the idea of getting this kind of dog through my daughter. He asks Jinx if she wants a dog. And of course my daughter smiles and says yes. He sometimes even asks my daughter to ask me if we can get a dog.
I have to say no in the nicest way possible. I know if we get another dog it's going to my responsibility on top of everything else I do daily.
My husband insists for me to ask our neighbor what kind of dog it is. I might do so some time this week. We will see. Knowing my husband he'll surprise us with a puppy one of these days.

Kleenex Expressions

Remember when you were a kid and were sick? What were the essentials that were always around you?
For me it was blankets, soup, medicine and Kleenex tissue paper for my lovely leaky nose. Growing up my mom would always purchase the Kleenex tissues. I remember them cause they were the rectangle flowery print boxes.
These tissues were like heaven for my nose. They were so soft that they didn't irritate my nose after the millionth time using them.
As I got older, in my teen years, it was no longer just used when one was sick. But to help remove make up. Well the very little make up I used at the time. Sometimes I would forget and have make up overnight (I know gross) but Kleenex was soft enough to help clean it up without irritating my skin the following day.
Now that I am older not only do I love to use them for those purposes but I also love it's packaging. Kleenex Expressions always have a variety of colors and prints to choose from.
They've come a long way from when I was a kid. They have trendy patterns that I love and can incorporate in my home decor. Or if you are a college student it can brighten up your room or bathroom. Let's face it those white walls are so plain.

I went to my local grocery store and found so many to choose from. I was there looking and picking out from their collection for about 15 to 20 minutes. You can tell I was there for a while cause the sales associate asked if he could help me out. If it were up to me I would of taken them all.

I ended up choosing these two:
This design is called Cubix
This design is called Aster
As you can tell these are not the tradition upright (cube) or rectangular shape one. I loved these oval shaped design. Never seen this before. It's new and modern, especially with it's graphic designs.
Funny enough the yellow and grey are the colors I was planning on using for my guest bath at our new house. So this will go perfectly.
Like I said before there were so many other ones to chose from. I love them all. Going through Kleenex's website. I noticed that there wasn't one of the designs at my local grocery store. It's called Rendez Vous. It's such a nice and elegant design. It must be a popular pick since I couldn't find it.
Kleenex.com - Rendez Vous
Kleenex's designs not only look great anywhere but they have inspired me with my home decor as well. They have come a long way from just being a facial tissue paper.
If you are interested in seeing how much it has change from when Kleenex has started back in the 1920's (by the way my favorite era) I would suggest looking through Kleenex Brand Through the Decades
Not only are these tissues used for your nose or face but so much more that Kleenex has found 30 Everyday Uses for Kleenex Brand. Go and check it out. It'll make you start using these tissues more often.
Also check out my Pinterest Board of #KleenexStyle These are my design inspirations. It might even inspire you to make a masterpiece with home decor, with art or with your own wardrobe. The possibility are endless.

2014 Blogger Challenge #5

Nails! Nails! Nails!
It's safe to say you probably have an idea of what this topic is about.
I love it when my nails are so colorful. There is large variety of colors. That I always want them all. Who wouldn't?!
I don't really buy nail polish for it's brand. It's more of the color. I've purchased Avon, LA color, OPI and many more brands. I feel as long as I like the end result then it shouldn't matter what kind of brand.
In the past (my teenager/college years) I had a bags (who am I kidding more like 2 bags) worth of nail polish. I used to work for a trendy clothing company. So I would always have my nails done. Then I got a job at Starbucks. And unfortunately if I had done my nails that morning they would be completely ruined by the first hour of my shift. So for many years I would barely paint my nails.
After so many years majority of my nail polish went bad or dried up. So now I'm purchasing my new stash of nail polish.
I've always loved and still do love the vino purple or dark colors. I am trying out new colors that I don't think would of picked before. A couple of weeks ago I shared a Big Lots Haul which I purchased a couple of nail polishes. I love this Revlon Color Stay Rich Raspberry. Love this shade of pink great for spring!

Is there a brand you strictly stick to? What's your favorite nail polish?
Love to hear your thoughts so comment below! :)

2014 Blogger Challenge #4

This topic is about high end verses High street of anything.
This can be really much anything. Clothes, make up , furniture and anything you can think of.
I feel that 'you get what you pay for'. It's something that my husband and I think about when we do our purchases.
I'm not saying to completely splurge on everything. But to be smart with your money. After all this is your hard earned money.
For example lets say you purchase a gaming console. You broke or need another gaming controller.
You get the off brand one to save you money. You'll can probably see the difference. Cheap plastic and maybe the response isn't that great. That is one way high end is better than high street.
Google Images
Another example are clothes. Now a days you have stores like Marshall or TJ Maxx that have these designer brands for great prices. I love shopping there. But you also have places like Target that majority of there items are great quality. This can be a toss up. Other stores can have cheap fabrics. It just depends where you go.
Google Images

Do you agree or disagree with me? What are your thoughts on High end and high street?
Comment down below. Would love to read your opinions.

I want to apologize with my tardiness on the 2014 Blogger Challenge
I promise to catch up with with the posts. Thanks for understanding :)

Our week

We are loving our house! There is obviously a lot of work but glad about it.
My husband and I still wake up and are surprise that this is our house.
We've slowly have unboxed our stuff.
The great news are we have kitchen appliances! Yay! They are so nice and shiny! Since it was the president's day weekend sales we got an amazing deal at Hhgregg.  Not only did we got the appliances for the kitchen but we also got a washer and dryer. Never thought I would be excited over appliances before.

During the week I went back to the old apartment to pick up a bunch of left behind items. It saddens me a bit seeing the apartment so empty cause there are so memories. From moving from South Florida to Orlando, Bryan building his computer, having friends over and of course the baby memories of Jinx.

As much as I will miss the old apartment, we did grew out of it. Glad that I don't have to drive there anymore and now can focus on the house more. I had to take like 4 trips there. Just to clean up the apartment and load the car fully of the stuff we forgot.
We were surprised how many things we left there. Honestly we thought that it would just be one or two trips worth. It is now done. No more driving there.

The last trip of stuff from the apartment!
This weekend my father-in-law and my sister visited us this weekend.
On Friday I honestly forgot the time to pick up my sister, Crisveth, from her bus stop. I thought it was 10 pm but it was 10 AM. Oh well. I picked her up as soon as I could.
Jinx loves spending time with her Tia. They played with the blocks and watched movies. My sister helped out a lot while we were working on the house.

My sister (Crisveth) and Jinx striking a pose
It was nice to have them here. We made multiple trips to Home Depot. My sister and Jinx pretty much got bored. Can't blame them. I was like that when my parents took me to Home Depot with them.

Bored at Home Depot
During the week our house would lose hot water randomly. We thought by resetting it it would get fixed but after so many times it just decided to not heat anymore. Luckily my father in law was here to fixed the problem. We were getting worried that we would have to make another huge purchase. But it was just a $40 fix.
Before we knew it, it was time for everyone to head home.
I dropped off my sister at the airport and my Father-in-Law drove back home.
Jinx misses them and asked about her Grandpa and Tia after they left. I told her that we would see them soon. Glad that there is facetime!
